New Centre Commissioned in Karamoja to Deliver Justice.

The Justice, Law and\r\nOrder Sector unveiled a multi-billion centre that will be used to deliver\r\njustice to the people of Karamoja sub-region. The centre in Moroto District was\r\nfunded by the Netherlands government.

Hon. Justice Steven\r\nKavuma, JCA,  the Acting Chief Justice,\r\nwho was accompanied by the minister of Internal Affairs, Gen.  Aronda Nyakairima, and the Netherlands Ambassador\r\nAlphans Hennekens, commissioned the centre on Friday February 14, 2014.

During the ceremony Hon.\r\nJustice Steven Kavuma warned against extorting money from suspects, saying that\r\nit is an important milestone in the establishment of justice in the region as\r\nwell as a good extension of the rule of law and order. He also noted that setting\r\nup such establishments in remote areas would help to bridge the gap in\r\ndelivering justice for all.

Ambassador Hennekens\r\nappealed to the sector to use the centre as a driver of justice to the people\r\nof Karamoja. He said his\r\ngovernment would continue to support Uganda especially in the area of promoting\r\njustice, law and order.

\r\n\r\n


\r\nThe minister for Internal Affairs, Gen Nyakairima warned against increased\r\nabsenteeism by officers entrusted to run such facilities. He said the venture\r\nsquarely fits in the promotion of law, peace and order currently prevailing in\r\nthe country.
